There are two diffent ways to perform searches from Internet
- From Launch Pivot main screen
By pressing Web-button you can select a search provider. Then you can type a search query and press Enter to start searching. This launches the default browser and it displays the search results.
- From any other application
You can mark text in any application and when you press a predefined hotkey the default browser is started and search results are displayed.
Web options
Search providers can be added, deleted and modified. Each entry contains four parameters.
- Menu command
This text will be displayed in the Web menu on the main screen.
- Web address
Here you can type a search provider's web address. You can get the address from your browser when you have made a search from a search provider. Paste the address from your browser and clear the search query from the address. For example if you have searched "dogs" from Google and browser address bar looks like this:
"http://www.google.com/search?q=dogs&meta="
then remove the word "dogs". Also it is important that the query parameter (in this case "q= ") is the last one in the web address because Launch Pivot adds search query to the end of this address. The final address would be like this:
"http://www.google.com/search?meta=&q="
- Description
This text will be used as a hint text to the search query text box on the main screen.
- Hotkey
Hotkey will be used if you would like to perform searches from another application. First you have to mark text and then press this hotkey.
